The mighty Max Cavalera digs deep into Chama, Soulfly’s 13th album and one of his most inspired in years. Produced by his son Zyon (with help from his brother Iggor), Chama blends raw riffs, tribal rhythms, and modern chaos into a record that feels as hungry as Max did at 18. He opens up about finding fire again after decades of albums, letting his kids push him harder in the studio, and weaving tribal culture into heavy metal. Along the way, Max shares stories of burying master tapes at Indigo Ranch to “charge them with spirits,” recording with the Xavantes tribe for Roots, his lifelong bond with Chino Moreno and Deftones, and what it’s like to raise a family of full-on metal lifers.
